1905

The initiator was Giuseppe Poggioli, grandfather and great-grandfather of the current owners, who in 1905 opened a saddlery and travel items workshop, immediately distinguishing himself for the manufacture of wooden trunks and items for the Swiss army, such as military bags and belts.

1928

In 1928 the building in Via Luvini 5, where the shop is currently located, became property of the family.

1955

On the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary, the internationally renowned Ticino architect Alberto Camenzind carried out important renovation works, creating an underground floor now completely dedicated to travel items. Some original furniture is still present in the shop today.

1970

In 1970 his daughter Flavia joined the company and in 1993 she became co-owner. Currently around ten people work at Pelletteria Poggioli, all very competent, and Flavia is the director.

2005

In 2005, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the leather goods business, the Poggioli family organized an anthological exhibition entitled "The history of Lugano on the surface" hosted at Villa Saroli. The itinerary included an exhibition of bags, suitcases and accessories from the Poggioli archive collected over many years, as well as many photographs of old Lugano.

TODAY

Today they are Flavia Poggioli Jacobs, Giovanni and Mara Pult who continue the family tradition with seriousness and enthusiasm, traveling between Paris, the United States and Milan always looking for new inspirations in order to satisfy the numerous local and foreign customers.
